Artist Statement
My work embraces vulnerability. I weave my personal struggles, thoughts, and reflections into my artwork aiming for it to initiate conversations about challenges we don’t openly talk about in our daily lives. I aspire for my art to raise awareness and serve as a catalyst for people to share their own personal challenges and embrace vulnerability, something I used to struggle with. Being vulnerable is important to me as it helps us connect with people on a deeper level, enabling us to create meaningful connections and a sense of belonging. My latest series dwells on themes such as anxiety and depression.
While my current work involves versatile mediums of folded paper strips and textiles, my ongoing exploration extends into ceramics as well. I like to use materials in unexpected ways, inviting viewers to rethink what they see at first glance similar to how we often hide our true selves in front of others the very first time we meet someone. I like to transform ordinary materials found around us into 3D works of art to evoke a sense of reconnection with oneself. This exploration of materials pushes me to express vulnerabilities and emotions in fresh and unexpected ways.
The act of engaging with materials like paper and ceramics directly by hand is a therapeutic experience to channel my emotions.
Beyond my artistic journey, I am also passionate about creating quality art educational content for free. This passion extends from the belief that art is a powerful means for individuals to connect and express themselves.
